BRUSSELS (Reuters) – The European Union will accept all citizens fleeing violence caused by Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock said on Friday.

“We need to do everything to immediately accept people who are fleeing from bombs and tanks,” she told reporters as she arrived for a meeting with EU partners in Brussels.

“We tried everything to prevent that day (of the invasion) but everything went as it was because the President of Russia chose the war for human life. And this is why we are taking in all the people who are fleeing now,” said Baerbock, adding that she has already begun coordinating the distribution of Ukrainian refugees with countries like Baerbock.
