Estee Lauder’s John Demsey Suspended Over Instagram Post

A top executive of cosmetics giant Estee Lauder has been suspended by the company for a post on his Instagram account that mentioned the word N.
John Demsey, executive group chairman who is responsible for brands in the company’s portfolio including MAC and Clinique, was disciplined for the post, which also included a COVID-19 joke. According to The Wall Street Journal.
The now-deleted post is a mock-up of a book cover featuring Sesame Street’s Big Bird star with a retouched mask.
Demsey’s Instagram account has over 73,000 followers. The company did not comment on the duration and scope of his suspension.
The divorced father of a teenage boy is known for regularly partying in New York City with high-powered celebrities.
Demsey is a graduate of Stanford University and New York University’s Stern School of Business. He has been working in the cosmetics industry since the 1990s.

He became president of MAC Cosmetics from 1998 until 2006, when he was appointed global president of Estee Lauder.
