Eric Adams seemed unaware of the high profile bust of David Bonola in Orsolya Gaal

Mayor Eric Adams appeared unaware that his NYPD detectives had caught David Bonola, the man accused of stabbing Queen’s mother Orsolya Gaal, as Hizzoner spoke to reporters Thursday — more than an hour after police made the arrest had announced and hours after The Post and other media reported it.

“Are there any developments in this case?” a reporter asked Adams at a 12:30 p.m. public event at Bellevue Hospital.

The mayor began describing the murder as “terrible.”

“You know, it was a terrible incident. What do I know?” he said. “We will find him. We will find the person responsible and they will be held accountable for their actions.

“From what I’ve been told, this was a horrific murder,” Adams added. “But we will find the person responsible. Our detectives are on site. The commissioner kept me updated every day and I believe we will arrest the person.”

According to police, who announced the arrest at 11:15 a.m., David Bonola, 44, was questioned by police at the 112th Precinct in Forest Hills Wednesday night and eventually confessed to the grisly murder.

He was charged Thursday earlier.

City Hall spokesman Fabien Levy insisted Adams was told at 7am Thursday that police had a suspect in custody – but he was not informed of the morning press conference on the charges.

Fabien said earlier Thursday that Adams also did not want to “step on” the expected announcement of NYPD Commissioner Keechant Sewell’s arrest.

“He spoke to the commissioner several times today,” Levy said. “She attends the first conference call every day. …. He was informed before 12:30 p.m..”

The mayor’s apparent slip came just a day after he raised eyebrows by skipping the memorial service for Kade Lewin, a 12-year-old boy who was shot dead in East Flatbush on March 31 while sitting in a parked minivan – despite his outrage after this incident.

“Whose kid is next?” Adams screamed after the shooting as he clutched the boy’s sneakers and stood next to his family. “Those who took their own lives will be found.”

Police said no arrests were made in the boy’s death.

Adams said later Wednesday that he was 10 minutes from the church for Lewin’s service when he realized he was meeting with civil rights activists about gun violence.
