EMOTIONAL tribute paid to ‘handsome’ young father found dead at home – as police have more time to question a 23-year-old woman on suspicion of murder.
The victim, a 22-year-old man identified at the scene today as Brad Lewis, was found mortally wounded in a house in KingswoodSouth Gloucestershire on Friday night.
He was taken to the hospital but could not be saved. He was pronounced dead in the early hours of Saturday.
A woman he knew was arrested and is still being held at a police station.
Friends and neighbors have now spoken of their shock and despair, while Mr Lewis’ father is believed to have personally attended the scene to read messages left on bouquets of flowers.
One said: “We lost an amazing beautiful person without saying goodbye.
“I hope he knows how much and how many people loved him.”
A second described him as a “voluptuous boy,” adding, “So sad you were taken from this earth.”
Another said: “Your family will miss you so much and your wonderful children will miss you so much my brother.
“You grew up to be the man everyone wanted you to be so respected and loved.”
In a statement, Hanham Athletic Football Club (HAFC) paid tribute to Mr Lewis, who was a reserve.
“HAFC is deeply saddened to announce that one of our reserve players, Brad Lewis, has passed away,” the statement said.
“We remembered Brad with a minute’s silence before our game yesterday.
“Our deepest condolences to all of Brad’s family and friends.”
Police confirmed today that officers were given additional time to question the arrested woman.
Detective Inspector Ben Lavender said the “investigation is proceeding expeditiously”.
“We have a team of officers and law enforcement officers working tirelessly to piece together the events that led to this horrific incident,” he said.
Specially trained officers are assisting the victim’s family while the investigation continues.
White-clad forensic experts were seen entering Mr Lewis’ home today.
