His neighbors say he has struggled with water leaks for 15 years, as well as several other problems with the house.

And he is said to have no electrical equipment, heating or an active indoor bathroom at his home in Scunthorpe, Lincolnshire.

Tony Graves, who visits family in one of the cottages next to the house, says GrimsbyLive: “The last time we saw him was right before Christmas when we heard him falling and banging in the house and his windows opening and closing occasionally.

“We think he has a lot of problems with his house because we know he’s been dealing with a water leak for about 15 years that has flooded parts of my loved one’s property. overwhelm.

“However, he frequently barricaded himself so that no one could get in to see him or help.

“Then his fence tilted to the garden next door due to the weight of all that he leaned against it and all his possessions fell on her lawn.

“As far as we know, he has no family and is living alone.”

Although he doesn’t know him well, Tony said retirees are always pleasant whenever they cross the street.

“He’s fine whenever I talk to him, but he’s a very private man,” he said.

“I was really surprised when the fence fell into the house.

“From the outside there are no windows or doors and no toilet inside, just a house in the garden.

“I believe the toilet inside is just a piece of cardboard in the kitchen with some toilet paper rolls next to it.

“Sadly, I think the house now only fits a bulldozer, but people shouldn’t live like that – that’s just not true.”

Humberside Police confirmed his death was not being treated as suspicious.

A spokesman for the force added: “Officers were called to a headquarters on Churchfield Road, Scunthorpe on Friday, January 14, following reports of concerns for the safety of an officer. man at about 16:50 pm.

“On arrival, it was discovered that a man had sadly died.

“His death is not being treated as suspicious and our thoughts remain with his family at this sad time.”
