Gaming platform eFuse Chief Strategy Officer, Patrick Klein, has resigned after allegations of sexual misconduct surfaced amid community outcry.
Klein was first hired by eFuse in 2019 after retiring as coach for the Ohio State women’s basketball team that same year.
Resigning from OSU came after it was take administrative leave for allegations of sexual misconduct and NCAA policy violations.
eFuse responds to Klein’s resignation
On April 29, 2022, eFuse issued a statement regarding Klein’s resignation, saying the platform requires “unwavering integrity from all of our team members.”

While eFuse claimed they never saw any cause for concern during Klein’s time on the platform, they still accepted his resignation.
“We demand unwavering integrity from all of our team members, leaders and partners,” wrote eFuse. “We stand by our commitment to creating an inclusive environment.”
eFuse tells Sports business journal in an April 14 interview that they knew of Klein’s retirement from OSU before hiring him, but said he “accepted responsibility for what happened.”
According to local reporting from the Springfield News-Sunthe NCAA allegedly determined that Klein “initiated student-athlete contact with the goal of building personal relationships that go beyond coaching/student-athlete relationships.”
In 2020, the State of Ohio concluded that Klein’s behavior towards student-athletes “consisted of a pervasive pattern of behavior that was reasonably perceived to be sexual in nature.” report on their investigations.
At the time of writing, it remains to be seen who will be Klein’s replacement.
