Eddie Hearn reveals £40m sideways deal for Anthony Joshua is ‘virtually impossible’ as Brit targets revenge on Usyk

EDDIE HEARN says it is ‘virtually impossible’ for Anthony Joshua to step aside and allow Tyson Fury to face Oleksandr Usyk.

Team Usyk contacted Joshua’s camp earlier this month to see if he would be willing to give up his rematch with the newly crowned unified heavyweight champion.

But the WBC ordering the Battle of England between title holders Anger and Dillian Whyte paved the way AJ to rematch his conqueror early next year.

Head of the boxing department To listen wrote in his BBC column: “There has been a lot of talk about Anthony Joshua, Oleksandr Usyk, Tyson Fury and Dillian Whyte.

“Rumors of an offer aside for Joshua have been exaggerated. His focus has always been on a rematch with Usyk.

“If there’s a conversation going on, we’ll have it, but the announcement from the WBC makes that almost impossible.

“Dillian is now Fury’s imperative, far from coming.”

Talks over the long-awaited confrontation of former partners Fury and Whyte – which were authorized earlier this month – are now ongoing.

But both sides are back and forth about dividing the couple’s lucrative purse.

“We’re waiting for official confirmation of the division for that bout, but it’s almost nailed down, we’ll see Fury v Whyte in the spring of 2022,” Hearn said.

AJ suffered a one-point defeat to Usyk in their September game at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and are struggling to exact revenge against the slick Southpaw.

He told iFL TV: “I have one thing on my mind, it’s war, it’s murder, it’s war, go out there and hurt the guy.

“Bring his soul to the point where he wanted to give up. That’s the thing with boxing, I’ve learned that.

“You hit people constantly, keep putting a certain amount of pressure, before they know it, they’ll realize you’re not going anywhere, you’re here to stay.

“With the game plan, that’s all I have in mind at the moment, that a path, let’s go in the right direction, takes this guy where he doesn’t want to go.”
