Eddie Hearn ‘had nothing to do with’ Tyson Fury fight Dillian Whyte and ‘should have paid a higher price’, knocking out Warren

FRANK WARREN insists Eddie Hearn has ‘nothing to do with’ Tyson Fury’s fight with Dillian Whyte.

Promoter Warren has won the right to host a British hate match with a historic £30.6 million offer.

Whyte was not officially signed to Hearn’s Matchroom Boxing banner, instead working together on a face-to-face combat basis.

It means it’s still not clear if he’ll be participating represent strong candidates.

But Warren claims Hearn, who failed with a £23.6m bid in pocket tenders, will have no say in the fight and will instead deal only with Whyte’s legal team .

He told Daily Stars: “We are in contact with Whyte’s attorney and are confident he will soon sign a contract to face the gang boss.

“Why doesn’t Whyte want to join this fight for the WBC heavyweight title?

“He gets paid a lot for it and this is his chance to fight for the big belt against the best on the planet.

“It’s not clear to me why the interviewers kept asking Eddie Hearn for details about the fight because it was completely unrelated to him.

“Unless Dillian tells us otherwise, Matchroom does not represent Whyte in this fight, and we will continue to work to perfect things through the parties Whyte wants, not Matchroom.

“If Matchroom wants to participate, they should bid more money.”

With Fury taking 80% of the cut, Hearn accepted a bid with Warren and Advertising colleague Bob Arum won the auction.

The advertiser has now paid a 10% deposit on his bid, but the contract will not be officially signed until a date and location is confirmed.

Warren said: “Working on the great Tyson Fury vs Dillian Whyte bout took place in earnest this week.

“Deposits have been received and plans for the big event are being finalized.

“We’ll announce the date and location once all the details have been finalized, so stay tuned.”
