Easter Bunny stops Biden from answering reporter’s question

A person in a giant Easter Bunny costume intervened Monday to prevent President Biden from answering a reporter’s question on the White House lawn.

Biden, who hosted the first White House Easter egg of his presidency as the COVID-19 pandemic eased, began answering Afghan reporter Nazira Karimi’s request before the bunny emerged and ended the exchange.

Event attendee Thomas C. Dillon tweeted his footage of the interaction, which was not visible to most viewers.

“Joe Biden is quickly interrupted by the Easter Bunny after he starts commenting on #Afghanistan and #Pakistan at the White House,” Dillion captioned an 11-second clip.

Dillon, a public relations adviser and former adviser to British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, shared with The Post an expanded version of the video, including Karimi’s brief and hard-to-understand question about Afghanistan, Pakistan and Russia.

“Pakistan shouldn’t and Afghanistan should be — people should be free,” Biden began his response before the rabbit rushed to his location.

Biden, visibly shocked, jerked his head at the costumed figure and took a step back.

The rabbit enthusiastically waved its stuffed paws and led Biden away, apparently because he was needed to start another round of the egg roll competition with a whistle.

It’s unclear who was in the bunny outfit, although White House Press Secretary Angela Perez tweeted a picture of the same mascot sitting in the Executive Mansion’s press office.

In 2008, during the George W. Bush administration, Sean Spicer — who later became President Donald Trump’s first White House press secretary — wore the bunny costume for the Easter egg roll.

Biden routinely blames unidentified subordinates for his inability to answer journalists’ questions.

The encounter came just moments after Biden led a group of children rolling eggs on the White House lawn.

Karimi is known for her sometimes passionate remarks in press briefings about the plight of Afghan civilians and women since the Taliban takeover last year. She wore a clear rain poncho and held a video camera as she questioned Biden, but did not immediately release her recording.
