Durham man falls off motorbike during chase in Outer Banks, MPs say

KILL DEVIL HILLS, NC (WAVY) – A Georgia wanted fugitive has been arrested after his motorcycle crashed during a law enforcement chase down Highway 158 last week, the Dare County Sheriff’s Office says.

A deputy attempted to stop David Flores on his motorcycle around 7:05 p.m. Thursday, June 9 while Flores was driving north from Kill Devil Hills to Kitty Hawk, officials said.

Flores made a U-turn near Kitty Hawk Road and headed south on Highway 158 before eventually crashing in the Henry’s Restaurant area, according to deputies.

Flores fled on foot but was arrested shortly afterwards on the beach near Tateway, MPs say.

The 25-year-old, from Durham, was accused of fleeing to evade and defacing the VIN, both crimes, and he was charged with an extradition warrant from Georgia.

He is being held on $320,000 in secured bail.
