Duggar Court Docs reveal how many people knew about Josh Duggar’s sexual abuse before 2015

The Duggar family may have been keeping a big secret from the public before 2015. However, the sexual abuse at her home was no secret to her social circle. Josh Duggar’s inappropriate behavior was reportedly well known to members of her home community. According to recently unsealed court documents, Josh’s behavior and Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar’s handling of the situation created a rift in the family’s social circle. So how many people knew what happened? A lot.
Court documents revealed how quickly the Duggars’ social circle learned about Josh Duggar
Josh Duggar molested four of his sisters and a family friend in 2003 and 2004. First, Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar informed the Holt family of Josh’s actions. Jim and Bobye Holt were close friends of Jim Bob and Michelle. Their daughter, Kaeleigh Holt, was dating Josh at the time. After the Holts informed her daughter of the situation, she ended her courtship with Josh and wrote details of the abuse in a letter.
According to court records, Kaeleigh put the letter in a book. In 2006, Kaeleigh loaned the book to a family friend who discovered the note and passed it on to others. Thereafter, the wider Duggar family social circle was made aware of the incidents. According to Kaeleigh, Michelle’s family member Rachel Hutchins also knew about the incidents. Kaeleigh noted that many of the parents were discussing what happened in their social circle.
Kaeleigh Holt testified that Michelle and Jim Bob Duggar’s handling of the situation created a social rift
The Duggar family and the Holt family have been incredibly close for years. Still, the way Jim Bob and Michelle dealt with Josh Duggar’s behavior created divisions within the families’ home community. According to Kaeleigh’s testimony in the Duggar sister’s lawsuit against the city of Springdale, the family’s social circle was divided.

The Holt family appeared in the first Duggar family TLC special, but disappeared from the spotlight shortly after. Bobye Holt’s testimony at Josh Duggar’s child pornography trial marked the first time the family publicly acknowledged a relationship between Josh and Kaeleigh Holt.
Kaeleigh has since married someone else. Josh Duggar married Anna Duggar in 2008. They have seven children together. TLC aborted 19 children and counting in 2015 after police reports of the abuse came to light. According to the Ashley Reality Roundup, Kaeleigh addressed the relationship on her Instagram following Bobye Holt’s testimony.
A family insider has uncovered the Duggar family
Everything that happened led to a serious and significant rift as the Duggar family landed their TLC specials. The special led to more television appearances. While the family members were regulars on several talk shows, they never made an appearance The Oprah Winfrey Show. They should appear on the show 2006 though. For years, rumors circulated that Winfrey canceled the gig after receiving an email about the harassment.
As it turns out, Winfrey canceled the gig after an email tip. The production company behind the show also contacted police for the information. The tipster was a Duggar family insider, according to court documents. An unidentified person has provided an additional tip to a youth welfare hotline in Arkansas. The tips led to a police investigation and a subsequent report released to the public in 2015.
