Drugs hidden in shampoo bottles, coffee containers blocked at Louisiana prison

MANY, Louisiana (KTBS) – Drugs hidden in shampoo bottles and coffee containers were intercepted at Sabine Detention Center on Tuesday morning after prison staff and drug officers learned of the delivery by hearing prisoner’s cell phone.

As a result, two inmates who were jailed for drug offenses faced more charges, and a third man joined them behind bars.

Warden Berlion Sweet and Assistant Warden Kaylynn Remedies learned of the plot by monitoring the prison phone conversations of inmate John Michael Murphy, 35, and inmate Steven Edward Renois, 35, with Wallace Remone Meshell , 24 years old, by Many.

According to the conversations, Murphy made plans with Renois to have Meshell assemble a “package” to take them inside the Detention Center.

The vigilante team contacted Tactical Drug Squad agents and arranged to intercept the delivery. Agents have been investigating Meshell’s illegal drug activity for the past two months.

Tuesday morning, Sweet and Remedies found approximately 8 grams of suspected methamphetamine, 2 grams of marijuana and eight Xanax pills concealed in a shampoo bottle and a coffee container, which had been brought to the detention center by a third party. .

At the same time, TNT agents found Meshell, who had a drug conviction on file, on Ivanhoe Road in Many. Officers said he was in possession of about 2 grams of suspected methamphetamine and 34 grams of marijuana.

Meshell was placed in the Sabine Parish Detention Center for possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine, possession with intent to distribute marijuana, second or subsequent offences, criminal conspiracy, principally for trafficking in Prohibited criminal facilities, Xanax distribution.

Murphy and Renois have been charged with criminal conspiracy, attempted transport of contraband in prohibited criminal facilities, possession of methamphetamine and possession of marijuana.

No bonds have been established.

Sheriff Aaron Mitchell commended Sweet and Remedies for their swift action to keep illegal drugs out of prison.
