The 23-year-old had traveled to the Scottish capital from Birmingham but was hired after a tip.

Police then discovered a carton containing 49g of cocaine said to have a street value of up to £12,000.

A further 47g of heroin worth around £1,600 was also discovered.

Tyndale appeared before Edinburgh’s Sheriff’s Court this week, where she admitted to being concerned about heroin and cocaine shipments on March 10 last year.

But after hearing she allegedly only took the drugs to pay her rent, she was spared jail. BirminghamLive reports.

Sheriff Norman McFadyen instead issued an 18-month surveillance order with 180 hours of unpaid work.

The court heard Tyndale was in “serious financial difficulties” with rent arrears, the agency said daily record.

Cameron Tait, defending herself, said a friend suggested Tyndale could make some extra money by hauling a package between the two cities as she had previously done.

He claimed Birmingham’s Tyndale hadn’t looked in the box before and “regreted making the trip”.

And she had told the police at the scene: “I brought something in my bag. I do not know what it is.

“I don’t want to go to jail.”
