A driver was killed Thursday night when a Mercedes went off a freeway in the Bronx and struck a house, police officers said.
The car was traveling south on the elevated highway near Exit 14 in the Northeast Bronx when it veered off the roadway and crashed onto the road below just before 7 p.m
The vehicle struck a house at 255 Pelham Parkway West upon landing, causing minor property damage, police officers said.
The driver, a 25-year-old man, was thrown from the car. He was transported to Jacobi Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
A 28-year-old passenger suffered a broken leg and is recovering at Jacobi, according to the police.
No other injuries were reported.
The exact cause of the crash is still under investigation.
