Drake announced his seventh studio album on Thursday and fans won’t have to wait long to hear it.
“HONESTLY, NEVERMIND” falls at midnight tonight, he posted on social media, giving fans just a few hours to gather themselves.
It’s the “Nice For What” rapper’s second release in less than a year. Certified Lover Boy – with its widely ridiculed cover art depicting pregnant women – was released on September 2 and delivered instant classics like Way 2 Sexy and Knife Talk.
Fans – some famous – showed their fever and support by suggesting his new album will be a perfect start to the summer.
“Get ready to splash,” DJ Khaled commented on Instagram, while Drake collaborator Gordo declared it would be “the greatest dance album ever,” and avid Canadian soccer star Jahkeele Marshall-Rutty proclaimed, “Summer is officially here. ”
The sudden news comes hours after British Vogue cover queen Beyoncé announced her new album, Renaissance, due out July 29 – believed to be a race for Drake to drop his record as soon as possible.
“Drake rushes to release his new album ahead of Beyoncé’s release,” joked one Twitter user with a clip of a crowd sprinting.
