Don’t just put raw stars to work in NYC – free the little guys too

Mayor Eric Adams just took a bad decision and made it worse.
It was sheer sabotage — not to mention government overreach — when Mayor Bill de Blasio passed a law in his final days in office Vax mandate for private employers.
But instead of reversing the decision on Day 1, Adams hesitatedand countless private employees lost their jobs.
Then came the realization that who knows how many Yankees or Mets would not be able to take the field because of the rule. In a baseball-mad town, that was political suicide. So on Thursday, Adams is expected to carve one — at Citi Field, no less Exception for performers and athletesLet Kyrie Irving finally play home games for the Nets.
It is deeply unfair and ripe for lawsuits. We want Irving and baseball players to compete, but they shouldn’t get a special loophole, say, the Midtown accountant.

Yes, there will be some turbulence when private mandate is lifted as people who have been fired are clamoring for their return to the job. But it is the right decision, and these half measures are an insult to everyone.
Let Kyrie play. But let Kyle from accounting do the work, too.
