NETFLIX’s latest true-crime documentary focuses on the alias Simon Leviev and the group of women he allegedly cheated on through a dating app.

Simon Leviev gained more than 200,000 followers on Instagram after the premiere of The Tinder Swindler.
On Friday, February 4, 2022, he is said to have deleted his social media account.
Before deleting his account, he wrote: “I will be sharing my side of the story over the next few days as I’ve sorted out the best and most respectful way to tell it, both to the parties involved. and myself.”
“Until then, please keep an open mind and heart,” his statement continued.
Another account with his name and photo appeared on the website, but it’s unclear if he’s actually behind it or if it’s fanmade.
Who are the ‘Tinder scammers’?
Even though his real name is Shimon Hayut, Simon Leviev has scammed dozens of women under his alias.
He is accused of using the money he obtained from various women for dates on private jets and in luxury hotels; which he used as a tactic to gain their trust before demanding large sums of money with the promise of returning them.
Hayut “was charged in Israel with theft, forgery and fraud in 2011 for cashing a stolen check, but fled before sentencing”, The Times of Israel reported.
The newspaper continued: “He was convicted in Finland for cheating on women and was returned to Israel in 2017, but fled the country again.”
He was taken into custody in Israel in 2019 after pleading guilty to fraud, but was released after serving a five-month 15-month sentence.
What is the Netflix documentary about?
The stories of Cecilie Fjellhoy, Pernilla Sjoholm and Ayleen Charlotte – three alleged victims of the Scammers – are shared in the 2022 Netflix documentary.
Among the women, Hayut is said to have misappropriated thousands of dollars — including more than $200,000 from Fjellhoy and $45,000 from Sjoholm.
As of February 2022, Hayut has yet to be charged with defrauding Fjellhoy, Sjoholm or Charlotte.
“I think it’s hard for women,” director Felicity Morris told Vanity Fair.
She continued: “This is a guy who has really messed with them, but now it’s on his Instagram that he’s basically living the same life as before.”
