DICE won’t get the chance to do Star Wars Battlefront 3 as parent company Electronic Arts plans to focus more on its internal IP going forward.

That’s according to a new report by VentureBeat, which claims EA has no intention of making more Star Wars games following the Respawn trilogy announced on Tuesday.

These include a sequel to Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, a Star Wars FPS led by veteran LucasArts and Medal of Honor co-creator Peter Hirschmann, and a strategy game co-produced with Bit Reactor. , a new studio founded by veterans of XCOM and the Civilization Firaxis studio.

In the future, EA is said to have plans to reduce licensing fees and rely more on their own IP like Battlefield, Dead Space, Dragon Age, and Mass Effect.

Journalist Tom Henderson, who has a track record of EA reporting, also announced in November that plans for a third Battlefront game from DICE had been rejected by EA due to the cost of the Star Wars license.

Lucasfilm confirmed last January that the Star Wars exclusivity deal with EA was set to end with a partnership with Ubisoft on a new open-world game, though EA responded by stating announced that their longstanding partnership with Lucasfilm Games will “continue for many years to come”.
