A SHOPPING CENTER was destroyed in Kyiv after a devastating Russian air raid on Sunday evening.
The capital was lit by a wall of flames as the city’s mayor, Vitali Klitschko, warned locals that “several explosions” had taken place.
The professional boxer and politician revealed that several houses were also torpedoed by the shelling in the Podilskyi district.
He said at least one victim was killed in the attack just after midnight local time.
Harrowing images show firefighters struggling to put out the wild blazes while rescuers comb the rubble for casualties.
The mayor of Kyiv wrote in a tweet: “Friends! Several explosions in the Podilskyi district of the capital.
“In particular, according to their own statements, currently some houses and in one of the shopping centers.
“Rescuers, paramedics and police are already on site. Rescuers put out a major fire.
“At the moment – one victim. All services – ambulance, paramedics, police – are working on site. The information is being clarified.”
A team was seen lifting a seriously injured man from the remains of the building before lifting him on a stretcher into an ambulance.
Shocking footage shows the moment the mall burst into flames and shards of glass flew across the city.
The brutal attack comes after another day of devastation in the war-torn country.
Russian forces allegedly bombed a school in Mariupol where up to 400 civilians sought shelter from shelling.
Several women and children are said to still be trapped under the rubble overnight after the attack.
It is not yet known whether there are any injuries.
The strategically important southern port city has witnessed some of the heaviest fighting of the war.
And earlier this week Putin’s troops bombed a theater in Mariupol used by around 1,200 people as a shelter.
Around 130 people were rescued, but the true death toll is not yet known.
Satellite images showed the word “children” written in large white letters in Russian outside the front and back of the building, space technology company Maxar said.
Putin has made it clear that his cruelty knows no bounds – after his Troops pounded a nursing home with vile shelling According to reports, 56 people were killed on March 11.
The shocking incident is said to have taken place in the small town of Kreminna in the breakaway province.Russian Luhansk region.
About 15 survivors were then reportedly kidnapped by Russian troops and taken to the nearby town of Svatove, some 40 km to the north, in an area occupied by loyal troops Wladimir Putin.
But despite the relentless bombing of Mariupol, Ukraine has spectacularly rejected Moscow’s startling ultimatum to surrender the besieged city.
Moscow promised to create two humanitarian corridors if troops abandon the key area and soldiers stop fighting.
However, the Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine reportedly denied the request at the eleventh hour.
Irina Vereshchuk hit back at the tyrannical Colonel-General Mikhail Mizintsev, who said those who meet his deadline of 5 a.m. Moscow time are “guaranteed a safe exit”.
The head of the Russian National Defense Control Center demanded a written response from Kyiv to his offer.
However, the defiant politician told the Ukrainian news agency Pravda: “There can be no talk of surrender, laying down arms.
“We have already informed the Russian side about this. I wrote: ‘Instead of wasting time with eight pages of letters, just open the corridor’.”
It comes after a string of horrific attacks in the peaceful city in recent days and claims residents were forcibly taken to Russia and stripped of their Ukrainian passports.
