Two Democratic senators and a pro-Democrat colleague are using the January 6, 2021 infiltration of the Capitol as an excuse to fundamentally change the 1887 Vote Counts Act. is to remove challenges to election results.
This is ironic because of many Democrats – including two-time failed presidential candidate Hillary Clinton and the Democratic House of Representatives. Maxine Waters of California – repeatedly challenged the legitimacy of Donald Trump’s presidency during his tenure.
In fact, Waters and a number of other Democrats opposed Trump’s Electoral College certification winning on the floor of Congress in January 2017.
For the past two decades, Democrats have opposed the validity of electoral votes on three separate occasions when a Republican is elected president.
But now, a Democrat has been installed in the White House, clearly the “inclusive party.” cannot disagree.
Senator Angus King of Maine – an independent who caucused with Democrats – announced a proposal called the Voter Modernization Act that would update the Voter Count Act of 1887 .
According to a New information posted Third, King is pushing for legislation in partnership with the Amy Klobuchar Democratic Foundation of Minnesota and Dick Durbin of Illinois.
King apparently introduced the bill in response to millions of Trump supporters who believe voter fraud played a role in the outcome of the 2020 presidential election and those whose protests led to the Capitol attack on the day the electoral college ballots were certified.
“In response to the threats to our democracy since the 2020 Presidential election, this law seeks to establish clear, consistent, and fair procedures for counting votes and receive the electoral votes for the president,” King said in a statement.
The proposed invoice will do the following:
- Make it clear that the vice president does not have the power to deny state electors.
- Narrow the grounds for opposing the electorate or electorate voting.
- Raises the threshold for Congress to consider objections and makes it more difficult to maintain objections.
- Ensure that state legislatures cannot appoint electors after Election Day in an attempt to overturn their state’s election results.
- Provide limited judicial review to ensure that the electors appointed by a state reflect the results of universal suffrage in the state.
- Give the states more time (until December 20) to complete the recounts and legal action.
Current law only requires one member of the House and one member of the Senate to object to the counting of votes before it is moved to floor-to-room voting.
The proposed legislation would require a third of the Senate to object before objections could be moved to a floor vote.
Ironically, Democrats are doing this at the same time they are inciting hypocrisy to end the trash so they can pass radical laws that will undermine the integrity of the election.
After years of shouting that Trump’s 2016 election victory was “rigged,” Democrats now want quell dissent when Republicans questioned the 2020 election.
History has repeatedly shown that demonizing and silencing your political opponents is a sign of brutal dictatorships. Don’t be surprised if that’s how this era is perceived many years from now.
