Debris falls onto the freeway after a truck collided with a shield bridge over I-45 South in Texas City

TxDOT says a heavy truck somehow hit a sign bridge crossing I-45 near Highway 6 and pushed it into the southbound lanes.
The catwalk from the gantry fell and hit a passing car, TxDOT said.

There were no reports of injuries. TxDOT said it believes the suspect vehicle did not remain at the scene.
As of 11:00 a.m., most of the debris had moved to the shoulder, but this still caused delays.
TxDOT says it could be several hours before southbound lanes fully reopen. Only one lane was open while crews worked to clear the debris.
