Deadly Deer Park fire: 41-year-old woman and her dog killed in house fire in East 2nd Street

Firefighters were called to a home on East 2nd Street near Central Street shortly after midnight.
According to firefighters at the scene, the victim may have been a hoarder of property. Fire officials said there was a lot of furniture inside the house.
The house is a duplex, and it looks like the fire started in the apartment on the left.
Firefighters arrived at the home around 12:40 a.m. Monday and found heavy smoke and several flames.
Once inside, they discovered the victim was a female. The firefighters got her out, but sadly, she died.
The mother of the dead woman was at the scene. She said her daughter just turned 41 years old.
Sadly, a dog was also killed in the fire, officials said.
“There was another pet, which looked like a dachshund, and it was found inside, also dead,” Asst said. Sheriff Phillip Arroyo said. “Pets are family too, and that’s unfortunate.”
Regarding the cause of the fire, the Loc Uyen Fire Police Office is investigating.
