Dead Heat is overruled by Aintree stewards as players react with horror at ‘terrible’ decision
PUNTERS slammed the Aintree stewards’ “horrible” decision to reverse the Juvenile Hurdle result.

This was despite jockey Paddy Brennan, who benefited from the decision and said the result was “fair” during the post-race hearing.
Winning trainer Milton Harris said the decision “didn’t come off well for him”, while ITV Racing’s Ruby Walsh also questioned the call.
The apparent disruption occurred on the final hurdle when Pied Piper drifted over Knight Salute when he was about a length clear.
The pair then fought a smashing finish in the run-in, and after a long wait for the photo finish result, the judge ruled there was a dead heat.

But just seconds after the result was announced, the stewards’ bugle sounded, meaning bettors had to wait for the payout.
In the investigation, which was televised on ITV, Brennan downplayed the disruption caused by Pied Piper and Davy Russell.
However, the stewards decided the disruption was significant enough to alter the result, handing first place to Knight Salute 14-1.
