Daniel Radcliffe has announced he’s not interested in sharing his thoughts on Will Smith slapping Chris Rock at the Oscars.
While everyone from Jim Carrey to Adam Sandler has spoken out about the incident, Radcliffe denied it in a recent interview.
Appears on Good morning Britain to promote a new film The Lost CityRadcliffe was initially asked about those thoughts, but said, “I’m just so bored of hearing people’s opinions on this already that I just don’t want to be a different opinion that contributes.”
He also talked a bit about being on the receiving end of a joke: “When you’re telling something like that as a kid, you’re never quite sure if the joke is on you or you’re the joke.”
Radcliffe added: “So you have a way of just being like that, I’ll just keep smiling and laughing and maybe it’ll end soon.”
Smith has since apologized for hitting Rock for making a joke about his wife Jada Pinkett Smith’s baldness, and the comedian finally made his comment during a stand-up show in Boston on March 30.
“I’m still processing what happened, so I’m going to talk about it at some point,” Rock told the audience. “And it’s going to be serious and it’s going to be funny, but for now I’m going to crack some jokes.”
the King Richard The actor was widely criticized for hitting Rock, with Jim Carrey saying he should have been arrested and Oscars host Amy Schumer saying the incident “traumatized” her.
The Oscars have said that Smith refused to leave the ceremony after being asked to do so and that they have instituted disciplinary proceedings against him.
