POLAND – “Dancing With the Stars” expert Maksim Chmerkovskiy is now safe in Poland, he confirmed on social media.

He kept updating his followers on Instagram while he was on his way out of Ukraine.

Chmerkovskiy was in his hometown doing a series of dance competitions when the Russian invasion broke out last week.

He spoke on Instagram Live on Tuesday detailing what he witnessed on his way out of the war-torn country.

“It turned into David and Goliath in huge proportions,” Chmerkovskiy said in the Instagram Live post. “It’s just reality. It’s David and Goliath in reality. I feel like I’m in high school again in Brooklyn, and I feel like I’m in the hallway and I feel like I’m looking at a kid. small beaten a big child”

The Ukrainian-American dancer praised Poland and its people for accepting Ukrainian refugees into their country during this difficult time.

He shared a post on Tuesday morning showing he had arrived safely in Poland.

In One video Chmerkovskiy who was released on Monday said he had been arrested in Kiev.

“At one point I was arrested,” he said. “But – again – all is well. I promise. But it was probably the least traumatic moment of the whole thing, as far as Ukraine is known, but for me it was just a reality check. economic.”

He left Ukraine shortly after his arrest and he documented his trip to the Polish border.

He was filming a project called “World of Dance UA” in Ukraine when the invasion began.
