Medical experts have warned against jumping to conclusions amid a media frenzy about the Omicron variant. South African doctor Angelique Coetzee said all Omicron patients so far have had mild symptoms and no symptoms requiring hospitalization.

“It was extremely gentle for us. Those are mild cases. Dr. Coetzee said. “I talked to my other colleagues, same picture.”

Dr Coetzee stressed most of the new cases are mild in both vaccinated and unvaccinated patients, adding that the disease is easy to treat at this point. Additionally, President Trump’s former Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Commissioner Scott Gottlieb discussed how vaccines and boosters work against this variant.

“It’s almost certainly here, just look at the number of plane crashes this weekend. Gottlieb said it is almost certain that there have been cases brought into the United States.

In an interview on Sunday, he discussed how vaccine manufacturers are confident that fully vaccinated people, who have also received a booster shot, will be protected against the Omicron variant. . Gottlieb, also a Pfizer board member, added that there is no evidence that the new variant makes individuals more sick than previous strains.

“Is this more poisonous? So to your question, does this make people sicker? Gottlieb said. “And in fact, there is some anecdotal information from doctors in South Africa that this can cause mild illness.”

Although, Chief Medical Counsel Anthony Fauci says otherwise. Fauci said the Omicron variant is something to be concerned about because there are many mutations that have potentially confounded immunity to past infections or vaccines.

However, Gottlieb predicted a different outcome based on studies testing the blood of people vaccinated against the Omicron variant due out next week.

“Now, I hope that those studies will show that the neutralizing ability against this virus has been significantly reduced,” Gottlieb said.

Meanwhile, Joe Biden said Friday that he will no longer be performing vaccine duties.
