A man was shot in the leg in a shooting at a New York City mall Monday afternoon.
Shots were fired at Green Acres Mall on Long Island around 4:30 p.m., according to the Nassau County Police Department.
The Valley Stream shopping center was placed under immediate lockdown after the shooting began near the Famous Footwear shoe store in the mall, according to authorities.
According to the authorities, the altercation happened between the shooter and the victim, who apparently knew each other.
When police arrived, the victim hid behind the counter where he had crawled to hide after being shot in the leg PIX11.
Police described the victim as “young” but gave no age or identity.
Other customers in the shoe store ran to the back of the store after the shooting and locked themselves in the back room as the mall immediately went into lockdown.
The suspect is described as a dark-skinned man in blue jeans.
According to investigators, there have been two suspects since Monday evening, both of whom were seen wearing dark clothing.
The victim was reportedly taken to hospital for his injuries. The status of the victim is not known.
The shooting is still under investigation.
