A large explosion ripped through several floors of a hotel in the Cuban capital, Havana.
Much is still unknown about the explosion at the Saratoga Hotel, including the cause of the blast and whether there were any casualties in the building.
A bomb-like noise was reported in the area and injured people were seen outside the hotel, according to police mirror.
Reports and images that appear to have come from the scene suggest people are being rescued from the rubble.
Patrick Oppman, chief of CNN’s Havana bureau, tweeted images of the chaos and wrote: “The Hotel Saratoga in Havana just now. A terrible scene of destruction. It’s not clear what caused the large explosion that brought down this iconic hotel.”
Police and firefighters are searching the rubble in search of survivors after witnesses said a “massive explosion” took place as nearby buses and cars were also destroyed, CNN reported.
