CRISTIANO RONALDO’s 60th career hat-trick netted him £850,000.
The superstar striker arrived Old Trafford treble for a second running Prem game to achieve victory over the Norwich basement boys.
He has scored 21 goals in all competitions that season, triggering a bonus clause in his contract.
Saturday’s exploits earned him two of those – first a £750,000 bonus for scoring 20 goals and then a further £100,000 for his hat-trick.
Having reached his initial goal goal, the Portuguese ace will, like yesterday, rake in a further £100,000 for every extra goal he scores this season.
Ronaldo, 37, will almost certainly end the campaign as United’s top scorer in a bid to win another jackpot – estimated at around £1million.
And if he manages to reach the 30-goal mark, the five-time World Player of the Year will transfer around £2.75million in total payments.
United certainly needed him against Norwich after two Teemu Pukki goals canceled out a Ronaldo tap and a superb header.
His winner came through a thunderous free-kick, though Canaries keeper Tim Krul caught him with both hands.
United manager Ralf Rangnick stressed: “I don’t think we need to talk about Ronaldo’s performance today.
“Another hat-trick, like the one he scored against Tottenham, made the difference and at least two of those weren’t easy to come by, the second and the third.”
Ronaldo has 12 months left on his contract which saw him return to Old Trafford last summer. still there were doubts by some whether he deserves to see it.
Rangnick, who will be replaced by permanent boss Erik ten Hag at the end of the season, did not want to get involved in this dispute.
But he said: “In the end it’s not my decision, he has another year of his contract and it’s one for the new manager and board.
“But he showed against Tottenham and today how he can make the difference. It’s no coincidence that he has the highest score of any in history.”
