CRISTIANO RONALDO has apologized for his angry outburst at Goodison Park.
The Manchester United striker appeared to smack an object – a mobile phone, according to eyewitnesses – out of the hand of a supporter as he trotted through the tunnel.
His club confirmed they were “investigating” the incident, which was circulated on social media. Suggestions that the phone was allegedly smashed.
And tonight he posted on Instagram to apologize – and then offered the hapless Everton fan a chance to come and watch another United game.
ronaldo37, said: “It’s never easy to deal with emotions in difficult moments like the one we’re about to face.
“Nevertheless, we must always be respectful and patient and lead by example to all young players who love the beautiful game.
“I would like to apologize for my outrage and, if possible, I would like to invite this supporter to watch a game at Old Trafford as a show of fair play and sportsmanship.”
Ronaldo was visibly angry as he made his way onto the lawn at Goodison Park after the Red Devils. dismal loss to struggling Everton.
And the United Superstar seemed to be thrashing about as he walked back into the visiting team’s dressing room.
The Portugal star limped away with his left sock rolled down, revealing two ugly cuts on his leg.
Footage of the tunnel collision shows Ronaldo carrying his shin pad in his left hand, but his right hand is out of sight as he ambles past the camera.
The forward struggled during the lifeless defeat as his United team-mates failed to serve.
He eventually had a chance to level things late but was denied by Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford from close range.
The final result leaves United in seventh place and six points adrift of the top four.
Failing to beat the Toffees, who were a point above the drop zone early in the game, was described by David de Gea as “disgraceful” and “unacceptable”..
The Red Devils goalkeeper said so BBC: “It’s a shame of us, we should win this game.
“We don’t score but we don’t create any real chances. We’re not good enough, that’s for sure. It will be difficult to finish in the top four.”
“They played on Wednesday and were tired, but they had more desire than us, that’s not acceptable. It’s very sad to lose today.”
