Crime in Liberty County: Davonte Newsome, 23, arrested in shooting that injured 14-year-old boy days before Christmas

Davonte Newsome was charged with assault and robbery.

The teen was injured in a shooting just before 10 p.m. on December 21 on County Street 3995, north of Cleveland.

Authorities said the teen was taken to hospital with gunshot wounds to his arm and side.

Newsome was arrested without incident Thursday night at his home on Tree Monkey Road.

He is still in the Liberty County Jail.

Officials said they were still investigating the motive for the shooting.

Additional arrests are pending.
