Cricket actor David Hornsby almost played Mac

Hot on the heels of It’s always sunny in PhiladelphiaThe landmark 15th season, the latest episode of Podcast Always Sunny revealed that David Hornsby, who plays the oppressed and emaciated Rickety Cricket, almost plays Mac, who will initially be named Rob. Of course this is the character Rob McElhenney became the symbol for the entire running of the program (probably where the name Rob came from). News is built by McElhenney and podcast co-hosts and It’s always sunny costar Charlie’s Day and Glenn Howerton, with the podcast episode mentioned reflecting the partial episode, Charlie has cancer.

Hornsby will play the character Mac since McElhenney has no ambitions to star in the series. NS It’s always sunny the team has always found Hornsby hilarious, a remarkable testament to the various pitfalls and spirals Cricket has experienced over the seasons. Hornsby, McElhenney and Day even put their talents together on other shows, each working on the AppleTV+ series Mythic Quest, recently renewed for two more seasons.

When asked to elaborate more on his early thoughts on serving the show seriously with creativity, McElhenney insisted he never felt he had enough experience to be humorous. Howerton and Day’s antics always made McElhenney laugh, and he didn’t feel that he could do material justice the way they could. It’s interesting to hear these comments as it seems acting has never been a priority for McElhenney, with only leading roles in It’s always sunny and Mythic Questand small guest spots on programs like Pass away, Game of Thrones, and Fargo serves as the bulk of his acting resume.

However, Day is quick to note that McElhenney lacks solid writing/directing experience, which makes his choice to focus on that all the more appealing. The trio quickly clarified that the real way to do anything in Hollywood is just confidence and trust. This would also be very kind advice It’s always sunny , because they made the first seasons on a very small budget and as if they were essentially home movies.

McElhenney has the following to say about his initial reluctance to act It’s always sunny:

“I never considered myself a super funny performer. I always thought I could write really funny stuff. I didn’t think I could do this, but I feel like I can. are you two. [Day and Howerton] could make this scene really funny, and you certainly did. So my thought is why not recommend this show to really funny people so that can make this dark stuff really funny. “

Of course, McElhenney’s hopes to have It’s always sunny with funny characters that come true, with Kaitlin Olson, Danny DeVito, Mindy Kaling, Jason Sudeikis, and Keegan-Michael Key brought dark comic material to light over the years. McElhenney herself also animated the character Mac, who arguably has one of the most striking arcs of any character on the show.

It’s always sunny in Philadelphia returns for season 15 with two new episodes on Wednesday, December 1 on FXX. New episodes will premiere the next day on FX on Hulu.
