A couple has been charged with the death of a two-year-old boy in a gas explosion.
Sharon Greenham, 51, and Darren Greenham, 44, were charged with the manslaughter of George Arthur Hinds.
Emergency services rushed to Mallowdale Avenue in Heysham, Lancashire, at around 2.40am on May 16 after reports of an explosion.
They found two houses had collapsed, while a third was severely damaged.
George died from an explosion at his home, while his parents, Vicky Studholme and Stephen Hinds, were also injured and later released from the hospital.
Lancashire Police said a criminal investigation assisted by gas experts found the blast was caused by a gas pipeline that had been cut in the adjoining property.
Following the investigation, four arrests were made.
Greenhams, who now lives on Ambleside Avenue, Lancaster, has been charged with manslaughter and burglary.
They will appear at Lancaster Magistrates Court on January 12.
In a tribute to George, issued after his death, his parents said: ‘We are deeply saddened by the passing of our beautiful George.
‘He’s so precious to us.
‘We have no words to describe how we feel and just want time to come to terms with what has happened.
‘Our beautiful little angel grew wings today.’
