Cooper Kupp doesn’t want record money from the Rams

Reigning Super Bowl MVP and NFL Offensive Player of the Year Cooper Kupp wants a nice contract from the Rams but has no intention of holding them over a barrel.

This offseason was a gold mine for talented wide receivers as Davante Adams and Tyreek Hill signed record deals.

On Tuesday, Kupp, who led all NFL wideouts with 145 catches for 1,947 yards and 16 touchdowns in 2021, was asked if he wanted to be the league’s highest-paid wide receiver, and he didn’t aspire to be entirely in that stratosphere.

“I don’t think I do it that way,” he said at the start of the offseason workout program in Los Angeles. “There’s a place you want to be. There is one place that I think is fair.”

“I’m not trying to hit anyone,” he continued. “I try not to compare myself to others.”

It would be humane for Kupp to compare himself to Adams and Hill, but it also needs to be noted that in Hill’s case at least, he had to leave an elite offensive line and quarterback in Kansas City to get it in Miami.

Kupp, 28, has played five seasons for the Rams and is expected to earn $14.25 million in 2022 and $14.5 million in 2023.
