William Reece has already been sentenced to death in Oklahoma for killing 19-year-old Tiffany Johnston, but authorities said it was always part of the plan to prosecute him for the murders of 12-year-old and 17-year-old Laura Smither Bringing Texas back – old Jessica Cain.
The 62-year-old pleaded guilty to both murders and received life imprisonment.

We’ve followed this story for more than two decades after Smither and Cain went missing in 1997. Reece has already admitted killing those two victims, as well as 17-year-old Kelli Cox.
For the past few months, Reece has been in a local jail while cases are being decided. ABC13 was told he recently agreed to a deal in the three murders to avoid the death penalty.
Reece is currently facing the death penalty in Oklahoma.
Over the years, we have spoken to family members of the victims, including Smither’s and Cain’s parents. They said that for the first time in decades, they felt they had finally done justice.
“This is justice. That’s it. There was certainly a long time when we thought this would never happen. Now we know he won’t come out,” said a family member of one victim.

Reece is scheduled to have a similar appearance in Brazoria County for the murder of Cox.
