CONOR MCGREGOR believes he may have broken Nate Diaz’s leg before losing at UFC 196 – but he “bottled it” because he “felt too uncomfortable”.
The 33-year-old suffered his first defeat in the match UFC when he rose two places to the heavyweight division to face Diaz in 2016.
Diaz, 36 years old, can relieve sadness by hitting McGregor with a bare rear shock absorber – albeit a positive start for the Irishman.
McGregor, however, believes he can avoid defeat just before the bout is over.
He explained in an earlier Instagram post that included an image from the battle: “I literally chose not to follow with this kick in this exact moment. [sic].
“The feeling was horrible and I withdrew from pursuing it.
“Without a doubt, the battle will be stopped. Determine the angle on your feet and get ready to shoot. I bottled it but it felt too uncomfortable. Even for me.
“Fast forward a few minutes, I’m on the strangled deck. Crazy game.

“I still don’t take these kicks illegally tho. You have to protect your corners and legs and that’s it. Face to face with it.
“They’re horribly bad kicks tho.”
McGregor got his back, however, when he faced Diaz for the second time in August of the same year – winning the rematch on points after beating the American three times in a brutal encounter in Las Vegas.
