Cobra tests positive for COVID-19 at Cleveland Metroparks Zoo

CLEVELAND (WJW) – The Year of the Tiger Cleveland Metroparks Zoo tested positive for COVID-19, zoo officials announced Wednesday.

The tigers were checked out after an animal care team at the zoo noticed that three of them started showing mild symptoms such as coughing and sneezing on December 12.

The zoo does not know how the tigers contracted COVID, but officials said the three animals with visible symptoms have since shown signs of improvement.

Rosebrough Tiger Passage will be temporarily closed until the tigers fully recover.

There is no evidence of animal-to-human transmission of COVID in zoos.
