City of Alabama Abolishes Police Department Over Cop’s Slavery Text

According to a report, a small town in Alabama disbanded its police department over a racist text message allegedly sent by an officer on the force.

Vincent City Council voted to close the department and fire Police Commissioner James Srygley and Deputy Police Commissioner John L. Gross during a heated session Thursday, AL.com reported.

“We passed a resolution intending to issue an ordinance dissolving the police department,” Mayor James Latimore said.

The move comes after city officials confirmed a racist text by an official who surfaced on social media last week, the outlet reported.
