CHRISTMAS is ruined for employees at a care and education company after bosses sent a letter of flat admission just before the big day.
Employees at Horton Establishment Limited in Hull may lose their jobs on New Year’s Eve unless the business is acquired.
The business has gone live and is currently for sale on the Gilbert Baitson auction site.
The company operates a group of community-based specialty schools, nursery and adult homes.
Incentives are being sought for the next seven days or employees face redundancy.
Workers were informed in a candid letter suggesting the bleak road ahead.
Some received memos on Christmas eve and were shocked to learn of the company’s dire financial situation, Hull Daily Mail report.
It states: “If it is not possible to secure a sale at least in principle by December 31, 2021, it is likely that the company will have to cease trading immediately if there are no more and as is the case. , the company forecasts significant trading losses in the first three months of 2022.
“In the event that a company ceases to operate one of its two businesses (school or adult care business), employees of either or both businesses will have to be redundant.”
Workers said the prospect of a glut came “unexpectedly.”
Employees are also informed that they may be invited to attend an initial consultation meeting with administrators, where additional information will be provided.
