Chicago Black Restaurant Week Opens Sunday with 30+ Hotspots – NBC Chicago

Black Chicago Restaurant Week, a two-week event that celebrates African-American-owned businesses during Black History Month, will begin Sunday.

Thirty-six restaurants both in Chicago and around the surrounding suburbs will be featured as part of CBRW from Sunday to February 20, according to the website.

Some notable venues in the Chicago area in the coming weeks will include Luella’s Southern Kitchen, The Muskase Restaurant, Taste 222, Prāz Chicago, Bureau Bar South Loop and Surf’s Up Oak Park, among others.

The website says Lauran Smith, creator of CBRW, came up with the idea in 2015 and started the event in February 2016. She started her social media account for CBRW with just over 100. followers, but that number grew to 13,800 in seven years. .
