Prince Harry’s upcoming memoir will not only change the course of his life but also that of his children.
Author Katie Nicholl claimed in her new biography, The New Royals, that King Charles III. wants to read the prince’s bombshell memoir before bestowing royal HRH titles on his children – Lilibet Diana and Archie Harrison.
In an excerpt published by Vanity Fair, Nicholl claimed Charles allegedly “declined” to make title changes for Archie, 3, who earned the right to be a prince and year-old Lilibet, a princess.
“We know that titles are important to Charles and he reportedly wants to limit them to the highest tier of royals,” the excerpt reads. “He is also said to be reluctant to allow his brother Prince Edward to assume the title Duke of Edinburgh, even though it was their late father’s wish.”
When 73-year-old Charles became monarch following the death of Queen Elizabeth II on September 8, 38-year-old Harry and his wife Meghan Markle’s two children inherited the ability to be an HRH, the book says.
“Would Charles go so far as to stop Archie and Lilibet from becoming a prince and princess now that the Sussexes are no longer working royals? According to a source close to the king, “It very much depends on what happens in the coming months, especially with Harry’s book and her TV show,” Nicholl claimed.
According to another report, the couple are said to be “angry” at the alleged snub.
Markle, 41, and her husband have had a contentious relationship with the royal family following their decision to step down from royal duties in 2020. They then relocated to Montecito, California, and the Invictus Games founder’s memoir, Telling His Side of Royal Life, is set to be released sometime in 2023.
Elsewhere in the bio, Nicholl explained how upset the Queen was after learning that Harry and Markle were leaving the family two years ago.
A source had spoken to the reporter for her book and said: “[The Queen] was very hurt and said to myself, ‘I don’t know, I don’t care and I don’t want to think about it anymore.’
Nicholl also claimed that “it was a source of sadness for the Queen that she saw so little of Archie and Lilibet and that Harry and Meghan were unable to join her for a weekend in Balmoral in August when the Queen used to be a hostess for all her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.”
Following the Queen’s state funeral on September 19, the former ‘Suits’ actress reportedly wrote in a letter requesting a private meeting with Charles before returning to California with her husband.
She wanted to give the new sovereign “clear air” before her departure.
