Police have confirmed a MISSING woman has died in Chicago.
Forest View Police said Charisma Ehresman went missing on January 23. The 20-year-old was reported missing “based on suspicious circumstances.”
Police said she had left her home on the day she was reported missing and was not available for work or contact with her family.
Ehresman was a first-year nursing student, an unsurprising choice for those who knew her.
“That’s what she is – she wants to help people,” said the woman’s father, Jeffery Ehresman Sunday. “All she wanted to do was help people.”
The young girl recently enrolled at Triton College in River Grove but remained in a state of surprise until the first day of classes.
“She wanted to be able to tell people, ‘I did this myself,’” her father said.
Chicago police said she was found dead inside a vehicle in the 5900 block of West Iowa Street, a suburb of Austin.
Ehresman’s death was ruled homicide by the Cook County Medical Examiner. Looks like she was strangled and suffocated.
“We are all in shock, in complete shock and in complete shock,” Mr. Ehresman said. “We knew the second time she went missing something was wrong because she wasn’t missing.
“This isn’t the girl who runs away when she’s sad or stays at a guy’s house for days and doesn’t tell anyone. At 20, she texted her mom, ‘Mom, coming to my house, I’ll be back in a few hours. “
News of Ehresman’s death led to a flood of tributes and kind messages on social media.
“She brightened everyone’s day,” her father said. “I don’t think anyone outside this house has ever seen my daughter without a smile. And she just can – it lights up the whole room. “
A GoFundMe has been set up by the family to help cover funeral expenses. To date, it has raised more than $14,000.
“Thank you to everyone who donated money, time and prayers to help us bring our little girl home,” Ehresman’s grandmother, Kathy, wrote.
“We are truly blessed to have such wonderful overflowing love and support. As we prepare to celebrate her life that ended so soon, we will once again reach out to those who want to help us give Charisma the beautiful memorabilia she deserves. ”
Jeffery Ehresman hopes his daughter will be remembered as a beautiful soul, “because that’s what she was.”
“Her appearance is a pretty girl [and] in. No one can compare to something I’ve never met anyone in my life,” he said.
