Police said in a press release that the shooting happened just before 1:30 a.m. at Taboo Nightclub and Lounge and that officers patrolling downtown were able to respond quickly.
Police didn’t say if there were one or more suspected shooters, which could have led to the shooting or if they had arrested anyone, but said there was no ongoing threat to the public.

“We know, as the Mayor said, this is yet another senseless and senseless gun-related incident with a reckless disregard for human life. I was furious and angry at the continued blatant disregard and lack of respect for human life. This will continue,” said Cedar Rapids Police Chief Wayne Jerman during a press update Sunday.
Officers are questioning witnesses and crime scene investigators remain on the scene.
Police also did not release the names of the victims or the condition of the wounded.
According to social media posts promoting the night, the club hosted a ’90s-themed night with a $10 fee. The club’s owner told KCRG-TV9 he is doing everything he can to cooperate with the police.
