What we know so far about Call of Duty’s DMZ mode
While the showcase didn’t delve too deeply into him during the presentation, DMZ mode itself was described as an “all new sandbox experience” that will be Infinity Ward’s spin on Escape From Tarkov. There was some concern that players would have to pay for this additional mode, which would have a significant impact on the potential size of the user base, but free-to-play will ensure it has the best chance of success.
DMZ mode will feature the new Al Mazrah map for Warzone 2.0, an extremely large desert map with an observatory as its central focal point, two surrounding cities, a quarry, an oasis and an airport overlooking the water on the southern edge. In the DMZ version of the map, the AI will be spread across multiple sections of the map, with enemy soldiers building forts to stop your progress. Players can choose which missions and objections to complete while attempting to infiltrate and extract loot.
The new DMZ mode was originally mentioned in the ESRB rating classification for Warzone 2.0 a few weeks ago. It was rumored to be inseparable from Modern Warfare 2 as a game mode, but this announcement that it’s free to play has dashed those claims.
Also, the Street Fighter 6 closed beta is open to applications and will feature a roster of eight characters, and the PC port of Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection will add 4K support and numerous additional graphics settings.
