Burial plans set for FDNY Firefighter Timothy Klein

The funeral for Timothy Klein, the FDNY firefighter who was killed in a raging fire in Brooklyn over the weekend, will be held in Queens on Friday.
Klein’s funeral will be at 11 a.m. at St. Francis de Sales Church, 129-16 Rockaway Beach Boulevard in Belle Harbor, a Catholic parish secretary confirmed Tuesday.
Klein, 31, the son of a retired Bravest, died while fighting a fire on N Avenue near East 108th Street in Canarsie on Sunday afternoon, officials said.
Firefighters say smoke eaters were battling the blaze when flames suddenly swept through the building’s second floor and they erupted out windows as part of the structure began to collapse in on itself, firefighters said.
According to authorities and sources, Klein was fatally injured in the structural collapse.
“Our members have worked feverishly and very hard under very difficult conditions to try to achieve [Klein]Acting department chief John Hodgens told reporters Sunday night. “Unfortunately, they couldn’t reach him in time and he succumbed to his injuries.
“Timothy lost his life doing the work that was required of him every day.”

A few years ago, the firefighter delivered the eulogy for fellow firefighter Steven Pollard after Pollard was killed on duty in a car accident in Brooklyn.
A 21-year-old autistic man, identified as Carlos Richards, also died in Sunday’s inferno.
Richards was reported missing by his family when flames broke out at their home, authorities said.

Richard’s body was found later Sunday in the charred remains of the home, authorities said. The young man was autistic and home alone at the time, said a woman who answered a phone number from Richard’s mother. The woman declined further comments.
“Our condolences go out to the family of the firefighter who died trying to save Carlos,” a man told the Post by phone Monday after answering the same number.
“Our hearts are with his family. Right now we are mourning Carlos and sharing the same pain they are feeling,” added the man, who did not identify himself.
