Bulgaria’s former Prime Minister Borissov arrested, the Interior Ministry said

SOFIA (Reuters) – Bulgaria’s former prime minister and leader of the opposition centre-right party GERB, Boyko Borissov, was arrested late Thursday in a police operation linked to the EU prosecutor’s investigation, the Interior Ministry said.
Former finance minister Vladislav Goranov, former chair of the parliamentary budget commission Menda Stoyanova, as well as Borissov’s media adviser Sevdalina Arnaudova were also arrested, the ministry said in a statement.
“A large-scale operation is underway in connection with 120 cases of the European Public Prosecutor’s Office in Bulgaria. Searches and confiscations are carried out at many addresses. Boyko Borisov, Vladislav Goranov, Menda Stoyanova and Sevdalina Arnaudova are currently detained,” the ministry said.
