‘Buffy’ star Nicholas Brendon hospitalized after heart attack

Actor Nicholas Brendon, best known for his starring role in Buffy the Vampire Slayer, has been hospitalized after suffering a “heart attack.”

The 51-year-old was taken to the emergency room for emergency treatment and is now “focused on doctor appointments,” according to his sister.

Brendon, who played Xander Harris on the cult ’90s series, was spotted confined to a wheelchair in a series of Instagram photos shared by his sister.

“Nicky is sending his love and wanted me to apologize for not going live that much lately and give everyone an update,” the statement read.

“Nicky is fine now but had to be taken to the ER about two weeks ago for a heart attack (tachycardia/arrhythmia).”

“Some of you may recall that he had a similar incident after his second spinal surgery last year (for Cauda Equina), but this time he’s trying to get a little more rest and has focused on medical appointments,” he adds.

Brendon has had some health issues over the past year that have forced him to withdraw from all promotional content for his film Wanton Want after suffering from “paralysis in his genitals” and legs in September 2021.

“Right now he is focused on his health. He’s not promoting the film,” his manager said at the time. “Things have deteriorated drastically in the last week and a half. He suffers from paralysis in his genitals and private parts.”

“He had trouble flying. Unfortunately, his condition means he needs surgery because of his mounting problems. I wish he was on the mend and able to promote this film,” she added.

The “Criminal Minds” actor is said to have cauda equina syndrome, a condition in which the nerve roots in the lumbar spine become compressed, disrupting movement, sensation and often function of the genitals, bladder and bowel .

In August 2021, Brendon was arrested for using a fake ID while attempting to purchase prescription drugs. He was charged with prescription fraud with a controlled substance and refusing to provide identification when he was pulled over by a police officer during the Indiana incident.

According to his manager, being forced to sleep in a concrete-floored prison cell after his arrest aggravated his existing spinal problems. He was said to be “devastated” over his condition.
