A thug stormed into the home of an 89-year-old woman in the Bronx and demanded money – and burned the woman with boiling water when she didn’t spit out money, police said on Friday.
The elderly woman was discovered by her niece, who was suffering from severe burns, lying on the floor of her apartment at a city complex for seniors at 2440 Boston Road in the East Bronx, police officers said.
Police say the home invasion happened overnight or early Friday.
The attacker poured boiling water over the victim when she failed to present him with dough, causing severe burns to her back, shoulder and neck, police said. She was taken to Jacobi Hospital, where she is expected to survive.
The niece called police around 2pm on Friday after finding her ailing aunt on the floor.
Only a bunch of keys had been reported missing, the police said.
Police checked surveillance footage at the scene on Friday afternoon.
