Britain’s largest gravestone, weighing 37 tonnes and featuring a solar-powered jukebox, is being erected for father of 9, Traveller’s King Big Willy

A HUGE tombstone weighing 37 tons and featuring a solar powered jukebox has been erected on the tomb of traveling king Big Willy Collins.

The memorial – believed to be Britain’s largest private grave – honors naked boxer Willy, a father of nine who died aged 49 after collapsing while on holiday in Mallorca.

The huge tombstone is crafted from solid Carrara marble and features two life-size statues by Big Willy’s 6ft 2in frame.

It also includes depictions of Jesus and Mary and a replica of Michelangelo’s famous Pietra statue in Florence.

There are also colour-changing LED lights and a jukebox that plays Big Willy’s favorite songs – as well as a Bluetooth speaker so mourners can play their own songs.

And it’s under 24-hour video surveillance, which his family can access on their phones and “talk” to him in a cemetery in Sheffield, South Yorks.

Willy’s eldest daughter, Mary Collins, 30, said the headstone was a farewell to “the best dad in the world”.

She said: “It’s a sad day but it’s also a way to show the world what it has meant to us.

“Our father was a family man and he means the world to us – he still means the world to us.

“We gave him everything we have and he deserved it.”

One of 16 children, Willy was the patriarch of the Collins family.

He was said to be doting on his children and grandchildren and had around 400 nieces and nephews.

After his death, tributes poured in from across Britain and from his hometown, where he was known to many as the ‘King of Sheffield’.

Mary added: “He loved Sheffield. He was as much a Sheffield man as he was Irish.

“If you met him once for five minutes, you would never forget him.

“We now have a place where we can meet and talk about him and where others can remember him.

“He was my best friend. Not a day goes by that we all don’t think of him.”

Hundreds of mourners lined the streets for Big Willy’s funeral last August, when his gilded coffin was transported in a horse-drawn carriage.
