EDDIE JONES’ England got a brief talk from Jessica Ennis-Hill ahead of their Six Nations inclination.
2012 London Triathlon Gold Medalist visited the team at their Brighton hotel on Tuesday, then watched them take a dip in the freezing seawater.
She talks about managing pressure and Her comeback after pregnancy to win silver in Rio in 2016.
Maro Itoje then took charge of a local resident to run a group meeting after a fire forced them to evacuate his hotel.
Ennis-Hill posted snaps of her on social media fighting the cold as the players took on the team building challenge in the icy waters around Brighton in their swim trunks.
“It’s all working out expectations and Jess has talked about how she’s done it, how she handles social media and communicates with her coaches,” Jones said.
“There are some really good points for the players to absorb.
“Maro Itoje and George Furbank held a Q&A where I embarrassed myself at first by calling her name by mistake.
“It’s a bit of a shame for the whole team that their head coach is someone who works like that. We all make mistakes and we’ll get on with it.
“She’s really nice and has good messages for the team, especially for the young boys who are coming through.”
“It’s about her process, you have expectations but don’t push yourself too hard and make sure you keep improving,” says Flanker Tom Curry.
“Especially when she has had setbacks and trauma – her expectations may change but she has to keep trying and improving.
“Her ability to adapt and continue to grow is tremendous. It shows her back from pregnancy to win a silver medal, which is testament to her work. ”
Jones often brings stars from other sports to camp, including Andrew Johns, Australia’s rugby union and Roy Keane before the last World Cup.
The squad had to evacuate the Harbor Hotel in the evening when a fire broke out on the beach. They secured alternative exploits at the nearby Hilton while Itoje led the trip to the pub.
Jones added: “I don’t think he did a great job with pints.
“We’re all set to start an important session for the players, which is communicating with their team, where they talk about how they’re operating with our team psychologist.
“It’s a really good example of adaptability and how we’re trying to build team leadership.”
